🥗 Ingredients:

  • egg whites (30g)
  • granulated sugar (50g)
  • cream of tartar (1g)
  • vanilla extract (1g)
  • food coloring or flavored extract (1g)
  • salt (1g)

🍳 How to cook (20 servings):

Cooking Time: 1 to 1.5 hoursPreperation Time: 15 minutes

Prepare Ingredients

Gather around 30 grams of egg whites (approximately 2 egg whites), 50 grams of granulated sugar, 1 gram of cream of tartar, 1 gram of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. If desired, food coloring or flavored extract can be added for a pop of color and flavor.

Beat Egg Whites

In a clean, dry bowl, start whipping the egg whites until they become frothy. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.

Add Sugar

Gradually add the granulated sugar, beating constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved, and the mixture forms stiff, glossy peaks. This may take several minutes, so be patient for the best texture.

Flavor and Color

Gently fold in the vanilla extract along with any food coloring or flavored extract you wish to use, making sure not to deflate the egg whites.

Pipe and Bake

Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pipe or spoon the meringue mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced. Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours or until the meringues are crisp and dry. Let them cool in the oven with the door slightly open to avoid cracks.
