  • phyllo dough (100g)
  • nuts (pistachios/walnuts) (60g)

  • honey or sugar syrup (80g)

Cooking Time: 50 minutesPreperation Time: 30 minutes

Prepare Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of honey, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

Prepare Nut Mixture

In a bowl, combine 2 cups of finely chopped nuts (such as walnuts, pistachios, or almonds) with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves.

Assemble Pastry

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place a sheet of filo dough in the dish and brush lightly with melted butter. Repeat layering and buttering until you have 8 sheets layered. Spread a thin layer of the nut mixture evenly on top. Repeat layering filo dough and nuts, ending with a final layer of filo dough.

Bake

Cut the assembled baklava into diamond or square shapes. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until golden brown.

Add Syrup

Remove the baklava from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava. Let it cool completely before serving, allowing the syrup to be absorbed.
