🍳 How to cook (2 servings):
Prepare the Dough
1. In a large bowl, combine 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast, 1 1/2 cups of warm water, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. 2. Add 3 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1 teaspoon of salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until the dough comes together. 3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. 4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Sauce
1. In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. 2. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and 1 finely chopped onion. Sauté until soft and translucent. 3. Add 2 cups of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assemble and Bake the Pizza
1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). 2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 2 equal parts. Roll each part into a smooth ball. 3. On a floured surface, roll out each dough ball into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet or a pizza stone. 4. Spread a layer of the prepared sauce over each pizza base. 5. Sprinkle evenly with 2-3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and add any other toppings of your choice (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, etc.). 6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. 7. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
