Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.

Melt Butter and Chocolate

In a medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter. Stir in 1 cup of white sugar until well combined. Then add 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the edges are firm and the center has set.

Cool and Serve

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares. Enjoy!
