Instructions
1. Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan or pot. 2. Add enough water to cover the eggs by about an inch. Optionally, add a pinch of salt to the water. 3. Over medium-high heat, bring the water to a rolling boil. 4. Once the water is boiling, cover the pot with a lid and turn off the heat. 5. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for: - 4 to 5 minutes for soft-boiled eggs - 8 to 10 minutes for medium-boiled eggs - 12 to 14 minutes for hard-boiled eggs 6. Carefully remove the eggs from the hot water using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a bowl filled with ice water to stop the cooking process. 7. Allow the eggs to cool in the ice water for at least 5 minutes before peeling.
