Step 1

Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover them with at least an inch or two of cold water.

Step 2

Bring the water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Once boiling, turn off the heat and cover the saucepan with a lid.

Let the eggs sit in the hot water for the desired time based on your preferred level of doneness: - Soft-boiled: 4-6 minutes - Medium-boiled: 7-9 minutes - Hard-boiled: 10-12 minutes

Step 5

Once the eggs have reached the desired doneness, transfer them to a bowl of ice water to halt the cooking process and make peeling easier.

Step 6

Allow the eggs to cool for at least 5 minutes before peeling and serving.

Step 7

Peel the eggs by tapping them gently on a hard surface and rolling them to crack the shell, then peel under running water to remove any remnants of shell.
