- sugar (10g)
- yeast (5g)
- milk (50g)
- tea (200g)
- lemon (10g)
π³ How to cook (12 servings):
Step 1: Prepare Dough
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and cold water. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then let it rest for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Incorporate Butter
Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread a layer of softened butter over two-thirds of the dough. Fold the unbuttered third over the middle, then fold the remaining third over that. Roll and fold the dough two more times, chilling in the refrigerator for 30 minutes in between each fold.
Step 3: Add Chocolate
Roll out the dough into a rectangle again and cut into smaller rectangles. Place a piece of chocolate along one edge of each small rectangle and roll the dough around the chocolate, sealing the edges.
Step 4: Proof and Bake
Place the rolled pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down. Cover with a towel and let rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Brush the pastries with beaten egg, then bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 5: Serve
Let the pastries cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Pain au Chocolat with a hot cup of tea.
