🍳 How to cook (2 servings):
Prepare Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1 1/2 cups of warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy. Add 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a dough forms and knead for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare Sauce
In a saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant. Stir in 1 can (15 oz) of crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, salt, and pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
Prepare Toppings
While the dough is rising and the sauce is simmering, prepare your desired toppings. Common choices include sliced pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives, sausage, and mozzarella cheese. Set aside.
Assemble Pizza
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread an even layer of the prepared sauce over each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and add your preferred toppings.
Bake Pizza
Bake each pizza in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Remove from the oven, slice, and serve hot.
