Cooking Time: 30 minutesPreperation Time: 1 hour

Preparation of Sushi Rice

Begin by cooking the sushi rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, season the rice with a blend of rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, stirring gently to combine. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature before using it to assemble the sushi.

Selection and Preparation of Fish

Choose high-quality, sashimi-grade fish, including salmon and other types. Slice the fish into thin pieces, keeping the size appropriate for the type of sushi you're making (nigiri, maki, etc.).

Assembly of Sushi Rolls

Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi rolling mat. Spread an even layer of prepared sushi rice onto the nori, leaving a small margin at the top for sealing the roll. Add your choice of fillings, such as slices of fish, vegetables, and cream cheese or mayonnaise, if desired. Roll the sushi tightly, using the mat for guidance, and seal the edge with a little water.

Serving

Cut the assembled sushi rolls into bite-sized pieces. Arrange the pieces on a platter along with any additional sushi types you've prepared. Serve the sushi with sides of pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce for dipping.
