Preparing Sushi Rice

Begin by cooking the sushi rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, season it with sushi vinegar, then let it cool to room temperature.

Preparation of Fillings

Slice cucumber into thin strips. Optionally, if using avocado, slice it thinly. Prepare the fish roe, pickled ginger, and wasabi on the side.

Assembling the Sushi Rolls

Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo rolling mat. Evenly spread a thin layer of cooled sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small margin at the top. Add cucumber, and optionally, avocado, and fish roe along the bottom edge of the rice-covered nori. Roll it tightly using the bamboo mat. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces.

Adding Toppings

Drizzle with mayonnaise or creamy sauce, and soy sauce. Optionally, add a spicy or eel sauce topping for an extra flavor kick. Serve with pickled ginger and wasabi on the side.
