🥗 Ingredients:
- rice (120g)
- nori (seaweed) (5g)
- fish (tuna/salmon) (40g)
- avocado (30g)
- soy sauce (10g)
- wasabi (5g)
- pickled ginger (10g)
🍳 How to cook (4 servings):
Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice - 2.5 cups water - 1/2 cup rice vinegar - 1 tbsp sugar - 1 tsp salt - Assorted seafood (e.g., salmon, tuna, shrimp) - Nori (seaweed) sheets - Vegetables (e.g., cucumber, avocado) - Soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger for serving
Step 1: Prepare the Sushi Rice
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the rice cooker's instructions. Once cooked, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar and salt dissolve. Pour this mixture over the cooked rice and gently mix to combine. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
Step 2: Prepare the Fillings
While the rice is cooling, prepare your fillings. Slice the seafood and vegetables into thin strips. If using shrimp, ensure they are cooked and deveined.
Step 3: Rolling the Sushi
Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread an even layer of cooled sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top. Lay your desired fillings across the center of the rice. Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to keep the roll tight. Use a bit of water to seal the edge of the nori.
Step 4: Slice and Serve
Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
