🥗 Ingredients:

  • all-purpose flour (35g)
  • butter (18g)
  • sugar (1g)
  • salt (0g)
  • yeast (1g)
  • water or milk (25g)
  • decoration (dried red fruit sprinkles or flavored sugar topping) (0g)

🍳 How to cook (4 servings):

Cooking Time: 15-20 minutesPreperation Time: Overnight (includes dough resting times)

Preparation of dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add water or milk to the dry ingredients, mixing until a rough dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 1 hour.

Laminating the dough

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle. Place thin slices of butter over two-thirds of the dough. Fold the dough in three parts, like a letter, covering the butter. Turn the dough 90 degrees and roll it out again into a rectangle. Repeat the folding process. Cover and rest the dough for another hour. Repeat this process three times to create multiple layers.

Shaping and final touch

After the final roll, cut the dough into triangles and roll them from the base to the tip to form the croissant shape. Place the croissants on a baking sheet, allowing enough space for them to expand. Before baking, decorate the croissants with dried red fruit sprinkles or flavored sugar topping as desired. Let the croissants proof for an hour until they double in size.

Baking

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F). Bake the croissants for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and flaky. Let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
