Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

Gather 500g of all-purpose flour, 300ml of warm water, 7g of instant yeast, 10g of salt, and 30g of unsalted butter. Optional: Add 1 tablespoon of sugar for a hint of sweetness.

Step 2: Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. If using, add the sugar as well. Create a well in the center and slowly add in warm water. Mix until a dough forms.

Step 3: Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Incorporate butter into the dough while kneading.

Step 4: First Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size. This should take about 1-2 hours.

Step 5: Shape the Rolls

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 6: Second Rise

Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for 30-45 minutes until they double in size again.

Step 7: Bake the Rolls

Preheat the oven to 220ยฐC (428ยฐF). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Let them cool slightly before serving.
