🍳 How to cook (4 servings):
Prepare Ingredients
Gather and measure all of the ingredients: approximately 150-200 grams of potatoes, 50-75 mL of heavy cream, 50-100 mL of milk, 20-30 grams of grated cheese (Gruyere or Cheddar recommended), 5-10 grams of butter, 5-10 grams of flour (if used for thickening), 1 minced clove of garlic, salt and pepper to taste, and a pinch of nutmeg (optional).
Slice Potatoes
Thinly slice the potatoes, aiming for even thickness to ensure they cook uniformly.
Prepare Cream Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Warm the mixture over medium heat but do not bring to a boil.
Layer and Bake
Grease a baking dish with butter. Start by layering slices of potato, followed by spoonfuls of the cream sauce, and sprinkle with grated cheese. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top. Dot the final layer with small pieces of butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and crispy.
Serve
Let the dish cool slightly before serving. It can be served as a side dish or as a main course, alongside a simple green salad for balance.
