- ground meat (60g)
- cooked rice or grain (30g)
- shredded cheese (20g)
- onion (15g)
- spices (0g)
- olive oil or cooking oil (5g)
🍳 How to cook (4 servings):
Preparation of Ingredients
Start by dicing the onions and preparing any other vegetables you plan to include. Pre-cook the rice or grains according to package instructions. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Cooking the Filling
In a pan over medium heat, add some olive oil. Once hot, add the diced onions and cook until they're soft and translucent. Add the ground meat to the pan and cook until it's browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, and any other spices of your choice. Once the meat is cooked, mix in the cooked rice or grains.
Preparing the Peppers
While the filling is cooking, prepare the bell peppers by cutting off the tops and removing the seeds and membranes. You can also cut them in half vertically for a different presentation. If desired, briefly blanch the peppers in boiling water for 3-5 minutes to soften them slightly. This step is optional, but it can help reduce baking time.
Stuffing and Baking
Fill each hollowed-out pepper with the meat and rice mixture, packing it in firmly. If you're using cheese, sprinkle it on top of the filled peppers. Place the stuffed peppers upright in a baking dish, and add a small amount of water to the bottom of the dish to help steam the peppers as they bake. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the peppers are tender to your liking and the cheese is melted and golden.
