Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse 2 cups of sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice in a rice cooker or on the stove by adding 2 cups of water. Once cooked, fold in a mixture of 1/3 cup rice vinegar, 3 tablespoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt until the rice is evenly seasoned.

Prepare Fillings

Thinly slice various fillings such as fresh fish (tuna, salmon), cucumber, avocado, and other desired ingredients.

Roll Sushi

Place a sheet of nori (seaweed) on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top. Place fillings across the center of the rice. Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi into a tight cylinder. Moisten the edge of the nori to seal the roll.

Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.
